Get More From Your Manufacturing Website

Evaluating your manufacturing website is essential to ensure it effectively serves its purpose, whether it's for generating leads, showcasing your products, or providing valuable information to customers. Here are five tips to help you assess and improve your manufacturing website:

  1. User Experience (UX) Evaluation: a. Navigation: Ensure that your website's navigation is intuitive, with clear menus and a logical structure that makes it easy for visitors to find information. b. Mobile Responsiveness: Test your website on various devices, including smartphones and tablets, to ensure it looks and functions well on all screen sizes. c. Page Load Speed: Optimize your website for fast loading times, as slow-loading pages can frustrate users and affect search engine rankings. d. Content Readability: Use clear and concise language, legible fonts, and appropriate color contrasts to enhance content readability.

  2. Content Quality and Relevance: a. Product Information: Ensure that product descriptions, specifications, and images are accurate, up-to-date, and informative. b. Blog and Resources: If you have a blog or resources section, regularly update it with valuable, industry-related content to establish your expertise and engage visitors. c. Case Studies/Testimonials: Showcase success stories and customer testimonials to build trust and credibility.

  3. SEO (Search Engine Optimization): a. Keyword Analysis: Conduct keyword research to identify relevant keywords and phrases for your industry, and optimize your content accordingly. b. On-Page SEO: Implement on-page SEO best practices, such as optimizing meta titles and descriptions, using header tags, and creating descriptive image alt text. c. Local SEO: If applicable, optimize for local search by including location-specific keywords and creating a Google My Business profile.

  4. Conversion Optimization: a. Calls to Action (CTAs): Ensure that your website includes clear and compelling CTAs that guide visitors toward desired actions, such as contacting you or requesting a quote. b. Forms: Streamline and optimize any contact forms or quote request forms, keeping them simple and user-friendly. c. Analytics: Use tools like Google Analytics to track user behavior on your website and identify areas where visitors may drop off or encounter issues.

  5. Security and Performance: a. SSL Certificate: Ensure your website has an SSL certificate to encrypt data and provide a secure browsing experience. b. Regular Updates: Keep your website's software, plugins, and themes up to date to mitigate security risks. c. Hosting and Backup: Choose a reliable hosting provider that offers good performance and regular backups to safeguard your website's data.

Regularly assess and update your manufacturing website to stay competitive in the digital landscape and provide the best possible experience for your visitors. User feedback and analytics data can also provide valuable insights for ongoing improvements.

Kim Williams
As a child, Kim Williams wanted to be an actor when he grew up. Raised in Myrtle Beach, SC and working in the family business of motel management, he honed his dream by spending much of his early years “acting” as if he were not surrounded by sand fleas, tourists, and aging beach bums. After leaving Myrtle Beach to pursue a BA in religious studies at Wofford College and a Master of Divinity Degree at Southeastern Seminary, Kim Williams spent 15 years as a pastor. He left the pulpit in 1999 and discovered a passion for sales and communication helping people to get what they want, in spite of themselves—which, if you think about it, isn't that big of a career leap. Mr. Williams is a former adjunct faculty member at Queens University and Central Piedmont Community College. Kim has been guest lecturer at Wofford College, Wake Forest University, Forsyth Technical Community College and Elon University. An avid day hiker, author, father, grandfather and serial dog owner – Kim Williams believes that who we are begins with what we believe and what we believe is created by what we do every day.
